The ‘Back Home’ scheme provides up to $20,000 to residents whose homes have been declared damaged or destroyed and who are unable to claim insurance or natural disaster relief.

“The recent flooding in the Northern Rivers region has had an unprecedented impact on the lives of so many,” said Business NSW Chief Executive Daniel Hunter.

“It’s great to see Premier Dominic Perrottet provide relief for those that may have slipped through the cracks when it comes to insurance or disaster relief payments,” Mr Hunter said.

“I know the State Government was hopeful that the Federal Government would help to fund this support, but to go ahead and fully fund this package shows great compassion from the Premier.

“The quicker the community can get back on its feet, the better for our entire State.

“Business NSW has been operating a Business Support Hub with our partners, Southern Cross University, which the Premier was able to visit and see first-hand the different offerings available to local residents to help them re-connect with their staff, customers and suppliers.

“It’s clear many in the community are overwhelmed with the challenges ahead of them, and the Hub provides them with the resources and assistance they need to get back into business as quickly as possible.

“I thank the Premier for visiting our Hub today and for his ongoing support to ensure those impacted businesses in the Northern Rivers won’t be left behind,” Mr Hunter said.
