After two years of winter lockdowns, businesses across the State are ready to welcome winter holidaymakers for the June long weekend with open arms, according to the NSW Tourism Industry Council.
“As the tourism sector continues to claw back lost ground, the long weekend offers a welcome economic boost, but it will come with some challenges.” said NSW Tourism Industry Council Executive Manager, Greg Binskin.
Businesses are asking customers for some patience as they grapple with crippling labour shortages affecting their ability to trade normally
“Our recent Business Conditions Survey highlighted that over 90% of businesses have altered their operating model with either reduced services or reduced operating hours as they struggle to fill existing vacancies.
“With snow falling and a winter blast hitting the state, it’s a fabulous time to pack the warm clothes and head off on your favourite short break to see the changing colours of regional NSW or enjoy the bright lights of Vivid in Sydney.
“Its also a timely reminder not to forget to utilise any remaining Dine & Discover vouchers before they expire at the end of June.
“There is still time to make reservations at your favourite dining spot, book a cellar door experience, an Indigenous adventure, a guided walk, a bike ride or one of the many soft adventure experiences.
“It’s also a good opportunity to reconnect with family and friends and use your Stay NSW accommodation vouchers.
“Importantly share your visual and exciting experiences with friends and family on your digital platforms to encourage them to get out and explore NSW to support towns, villages and the visitor economy supply chains,” Mr Binskin said.
