“The best way to protect yourself, your family and your community is to be vaccinated, and if eligible, to have the booster shot,” said Business NSW Chief Executive Daniel Hunter.

“Hospitalisations and those in intensive care are remaining fairly steady, and the data suggests a huge percentage of those are unvaccinated,” Mr Hunter said.

“It’s also important to use common sense when out shopping for last minute Christmas presents or catching up with friends, and that’s to ensure your hands are clean and you maintain a safe social distance.

“A number of businesses are keeping the signing in by QR code as a pre-requisite for entering their premises, while the use of masks in indoor settings remains a personal choice.

“Business NSW urges the community to keep in mind that a number of shop assistants are students working in school holidays and small business owners who’ve had a terrible past 18 months – there’s no excuse for rude and obnoxious behaviour that creates discomfort.

“Together we can ensure a happy and healthy Christmas for our community,” Mr Hunter said.
