DRAFT GUIDELINES ON ENERGY MARKET MISCONDUCT ACT
Submission
SUBMITTED: 20 Mar 2020
About this Submission
Following the ACCC's investigation of the electricity market, new laws are being introduced governing energy retailers' conduct to ensure they better meet the needs of their customers. Part of this new legislation looks at the circumstances in which energy retailers should be obliged to pass on wholesale cost reductions to their customers.
Business NSW is recommending that the guidelines are stronger, with the view that all savings related to network costs should be passed on to end-users immediately and in full, and that a wider scope of wholesale price reductions should be considered to be meaningful.
