ELECTRICITY AND GAS NETWORK PERFORMANCE REPORTING
Submission
About this Submission
The AER requires energy networks to publish information about their activities to improve outcomes for energy users including businesses. The Business NSW response encourages the AER to use this information to incentivise networks to compete with each other to be the best at various aspects of customer service, making available cash incentives for the best in class in different areas of their activity. It also discourages the AER from relying solely on 'reputational incentives' in guiding better network conduct - it is not clear that ‘reputational incentives’ alone have a meaningful effect on monopoly networks’ decisions, given that their customers cannot withdraw their business if they see conduct they do not like.
