The state’s peak business organisation Business NSW has today launched the Regional Leaders program to coincide with 2022 Daily Telegraph Bush Summit in Griffith to boost the voice of business leaders in regional New South Wales.

“Regional NSW is a great place to live, raise a family and start a business. From Bourke to Bega and everywhere in between, rural and regional NSW has so much to offer. We know our biggest asset in these communities are its people and this new program is all about investing in our regional business leaders,” Business NSW CEO, Daniel Hunter said.

The Regional Leaders program will create a network of business leaders that actively shape and contribute to the future economic vision of regional NSW with a thought leadership event series, special VIP events with government, political and corporate leaders and will also invest in the next generation of business talent in Regional NSW through a Future Leaders program.

“At a time when businesses in Regional NSW are facing a myriad of challenges, including skills and labour shortages, regional housing constraints and inflationary pressures, Business NSW is doubling down on our focus on Regional NSW to give current and emerging business leaders a bigger voice to make sure their contribution is amplified and heard by decision makers,” Mr Hunter said.

Business NSW recently released a report ‘Down to the Wire: Managing the infrastructure workforce crunch in the Riverina Murray’ which highlights the challenges of delivering $20 billion worth of projects in the region and provides recommendations on how to maximise the benefits of this investment.

“Business NSW is focused on providing solutions to issues facing businesses and economies in regional communities, and we are strengthening our presence on the ground with the creation of new strategic partnership roles based in each key region and we are investing in regional business hubs with Albury and Northern Rivers first cabs off the rank.”
